Melissa and David McVety have shared in ministry for 15+ years and have served as marriage and family educators, speakers, writers and coaches since 2012. Married since 2001 with four children and two grandchildren, the McVetys help bring encouragement, hope and healing to those they serve and counsel.
Melissa and David offer individual, couples, and family therapy, as well as specialize in co-therapy with couples who want to work on their relationship struggles such as infidelity and/or sex addiction, or brush up on their communication, conflict management, and closeness. They also offer pre-marital counselling to those seeking to explore and address any concerns in preparation for marriage.
Melissa has her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy through Trinity Western University, and considers it a privilege to work with clients as they discover their own resources and resilience in the context of a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Therapy can sometimes be an intimidating notion, filled with questions about what to expect, however Melissa seeks to provide a space of safety and understanding as she works with individuals, couples, families and children towards their goals for growth and change. The goal is to work as holistically as possible, integrating the emotional, mental, spiritual, physiological and neurological components of our beings to have a more congruent experience in relationship to ourselves and others. Melissa is systemic-minded, and attachment focused, incorporating elements of Emotion Focused Therapy, Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, depending on the client's needs. In addition, Melissa is a EMDR level 1 therapist that specializes in helping those heal from trauma. Melissa integrates her faith and spirituality into her therapy, while being respectful of where her client’s perspective and level of comfort lay where spiritual integration in counselling is concerned.
As part of her self-care, Melissa’s new passions include cooking up new recipes, finding time to host get-togethers with friends and family, enjoying a nice relaxing time in the hot tub, and getting outside to enjoy God's creation.
As a Pastor for 15+ years, David brings his experience, passion and education in a holistic and honest approach that meets people where they need it most. He is a Master Therapeutic Counsellor (MTC) and Registered Counselling Supervisor (RCS) with the ACCT (Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists) and has a Master’s Degree in Leadership from Trinity Western University. David works within a wide range of areas such as couple and family relationships, parenting and marital struggles, porn and sexual addiction, spirituality, personal growth, stress, grief & loss, career related concerns, as well as works with individuals and families affected by special needs and behavioural challenges. David implements real life on the foundation of Christ. He is passionate about God’s involvement and care for every detail of our lives while engaging deeply in how God created us. His genuine approach with clients offers a safe and caring space in which distressing concerns are explored. David is strongly committed to join each person on their journey towards achieving desired and preferred outcomes, while respecting where each person is at on a spiritual level.
As part of his self-care he loves spending time with his wife and children, and being a Grandpa is a new passion that he looks forward to enjoying a little more each day. Dave also loves his hot tub, working out, reading and snorkelling (when he can go).
