About

ABOUT us

Located in Mission, BC, Melissa and David McVety have shared in ministry for 15+ years and have served as marriage and family educators, speakers, writers, and coaches since 2012. Married since 2001 with four children and three grandchildren, the McVetys help bring encouragement, hope, and healing to those they serve and counsel.

Melissa and David both offer individual, couples, and family therapy, as well as specialize in co-therapy with couples who want to work on their relationship struggles such as infidelity and/or sex addiction or brush up on their communication, conflict management, and closeness. They also offer pre-marital counselling to those seeking to explore and address any concerns in preparation for marriage.

Melissa:

Melissa has her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy through Trinity Western University, and is certified with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist with the Canadian Association for Couples and Family Therapy (CACFT). Melissa considers it a privilege to work with clients as they discover their resources and resilience in the context of a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Therapy can sometimes be an intimidating notion, filled with questions about what to expect, however, Melissa seeks to provide a space of safety and understanding as she works with individuals, couples, and families toward their goals for growth and change. The goal is to work as holistically as possible, integrating the emotional, mental, spiritual, physiological, and neurological components of our beings to have a more congruent experience in relationship to ourselves and others. Melissa is systemic-minded, and attachment-focused, incorporating elements of Emotion-Focused Therapy, Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, depending on the client's needs. In addition, Melissa is a trauma therapist trained in EMDR, and specializes in helping people heal from their trauma. Melissa integrates her faith and spirituality into her therapy while respecting where her client’s perspective and level of comfort lie where spiritual integration in counseling is concerned.

As part of her self-care, Melissa’s new passions include cooking new recipes, finding time to host get-togethers with friends and family, enjoying a relaxing time away when she can, and getting outside to enjoy God's creation.
